Medication in the Academy

At Abbey View Academy, we can support children who need prescription medication during the school day. To do so, we require a completed consent form with full details, giving permission for staff to administer the medication.

The most common prescription medications include inhalers, Epipens, and eczema cream.

Important guidance:

  • Antibiotics that are needed three times a day should be given at home.

  • We will only administer antibiotics in the Academy if they are required four times a day.

  • All medication brought into the Academy must be signed in and signed out for safety and record-keeping.

Prescription Medication

  • Download and fill in the form below or collect a paper copy from the school office
  • Bring the medication and the form into school in it's original box with the prescription label on
  • We will then check it against the form, have it signed off by the Vice-Principal and store it for your child's use.

Prescription Medication Form

If your child does not need their inhaler or other prescription medication in school, you will need to complete a disclaimer form:

Non Prescription Medication

If your child requires non-prescription items during the Academy day, a Non-Prescription Medication Form must be completed and submitted.

This includes items such as:

  • Hand cream

  • Pain relief

  • Lip salve

  • Suncream

All non-prescription medications must be clearly labelled and signed in at the Academy to ensure the safety and well-being of all children.
