PTFA
What is a PTFA?
All parents and teachers at Abbey View automatically become members of our thriving Parents’, Teachers’ and Friends’ Association. The friends of the PTFA consist of individuals and local businesses who contribute and support us in our endeavour to raise funds and awareness to benefit the children in different ways.
Abbey View Primary Academy PTFA is run by parents to support the school by fundraising for small and large projects. Funds are raised by organising events throughout the school year both in and outside of the school day. These events include online quiz nights, Easter egg hunts, end of year parties and much more.
The PTFA is run by parent volunteers and aims to provide extra resources for the
children for fun educational purposes. We are always pleased to welcome
new members into the group.
We are very fortunate at our school to have a PTFA that is, and has been, such an integral part of the academy community since we opened. In its time the PTFA has raised thousands of pounds, which have been spent on improving equipment and resources to enhance our children's education and the in academy facilities in general.
The PTFA is much more than just fundraising. It exists to provide closer links between home and school, and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together socially in support of the academy and working towards a common goal. We are extremely conscious of the ethos and morals of our academy, and we try very hard when organising and planning events to respect these.
What is the money raised spent on?
In addition to supporting academy events with refreshments, such as the fun run, teddy bears’ picnic and ice lolly treats in the hot weather, the PTFA has happily funded additional enriching projects throughout the year. Examples include:
- The Incredible Eggs initiative
- Kapla design project
- A trip for the Choir to Garsington Opera
- Purchasing picnic tables and gazebo shelters for the academies outdoor area
It is during PTFA Committee meetings that the decisions on how to spend the money are taken. The funds that we raise are spent on both requests from staff and children and on suggestions from parents. Every request is raised at a PTFA meeting so that all parents know and have a say in how the money is spent. We endeavour to spend the money fairly quickly so that you can be sure that in supporting our PTFA, your child and others will soon feel the benefit.

School Lottery
Thank you to everyone who has continued to support this fundraising initiative, and congratulations to the lucky winners so far!
You can purchase a lottery ticket at £1 per week and help us raise further funds for our academy, so far we have raised £1200!

We are registered with a name label fundraising scheme with Stickerscape.
