Principal's Challenge
Each year, our Principal sets a special challenge for all students to work on during the school holidays. These challenges are designed to inspire creativity, curiosity, and independent thinking, encouraging children to explore new ideas and showcase their talents beyond the classroom.
Over the past three years, our pupils have truly impressed us with their outstanding efforts. From imaginative projects to thoughtful reflections, the quality of work produced has been exceptional. We believe these achievements deserve to be celebrated and shared, which is why we’ve created this page alongside our annual in-school display.
We invite you to take some time to read through this year’s Principal’s Challenge and explore the amazing work completed by our children. Their enthusiasm, creativity, and hard work speak volumes and we hope you’ll be as proud of them as we are.

Who Inspires You? Who is your Hero?

Inspirational people are looked up to in a positive way by others.
They can make people want to do something positive for themselves, for others or for the society as a whole. Quite often, people who inspire us had to overcome some big difficulty in their lives and they managed to come through it and be better people for it or have some positive influence on people around them.
You might take inspiration from lots of different people, such as famous musicians, artists, sports people, scientists or individuals who have changed society for the better.
This year’s summer challenge is to consider who inspires you. I would like you to think carefully about why this particular person would be an inspiration to you. Give yourself some time to think about this and only after you feel like you’re ready, start writing.

Famous Artists and their Artwork

This year’s challenge is all about Famous Artists and their artwork.
Art is the expression of ideas and emotions through a physical form, such as painting, sculpture, film, dancing, photography or theatre. Art is a universal language and a form of communication that anyone can access.
An artist is someone who creates art, whether professionally or as a hobby. Anyone can be an artist, including the children of Abbey View with the art they create! Creating art can be a relaxing and enjoyable activity, and viewing art can evoke a wide range of emotions.
This year’s summer challenge is to:
1) Research an artist you admire or are curious about
2) Recreate a piece of their artwork
I would like you to think carefully about why you have chosen this artist and which piece of their work inspires you the most. Give yourself some time to think about this and only after you feel like you’re ready, you can begin.

Inventors and Inventions that changes the world

This summer, I invite you to explore the world of inventions – the brilliant ideas and creations that have changed the way we live, work, travel, and communicate.
From the lightbulb to the internet, from the wheel to the washing machine – inventions solve problems, improve our lives, and help us understand the world better. Every invention started with a curious mind like yours!
This year’s summer challenge is to:
1) Research an invention or inventor that changed the world
2) Create your own invention or a model of an existing one
You can choose an inventor, invention, or both! Your research might include:
-What problem does this invention solve?
-Who invented it, and when?
-What impact has it had on people’s lives?
-How has it changed over time?
-Why did you choose this invention?
Get creative and come up with a brand new invention or build a model of an existing invention.
